Pier 11 closed all day Thursday for NTSB probe

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: New Jersey State Police advised tonight that all service in and out of Pier 11 in lower Manhattan is cancelled all day tomorrow while the National Transportation Safety Board investigates this morning’s crash of a high-speed ferry from the Highlands.

“The reported injuries still remain at 85 individuals,” according to the NJSP’s Regional Operations Intelligence Center.

U.S. Coast Guard and the NTSP have secured the pier as the investigation continues.

The safety board’s “go team” will examine maintenance records, propulsion, steering and other factors.

Investigators will also interview the crew members, as well as victims and witnesses to the mishap.

“We are here to find out what happened so we can prevent it from happening again,” the NTSB’s Robert Sumwalt said tonight.
