LODI, N.J. – A Lodi man told police he was followed from a Paterson bank to a friend’s home, where he said a would-be robber threatened him with a machete and hit him in the leg with a metal pipe.
The assailant then took off after the 10 a.m. incident Saturday in the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue, the victim told police.
The man “sustained minor injuries that did not require hospitalization,” Lt. Robert Salerno said Monday morning.
The assailant was described as black, about 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and driving a black Honda Civic -- either a 2008 or 2009, the lieutenant said.
Salerno asked that anyone with information that could help identify who was responsible call Detective Sgt. Anthony Mobilio at (973) 473-7600 ext. 8126 .
