Garfield Firefighters Save Ducklings After Memorial Day Ceremony

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Garfield firefighters pulled off a sensitive rescue when they plucked eight ducklings from a storm drain after Monday's Memorial Day ceremony.

Residents called for help after find the mother duck standing above the drain grating, crying, at the corner of River Drive and Semel Avenue.

Members of Company 3 got all eight out safely from two drains and reunited them with their mother in a park across the street.

She then brought them to the Passaic River bank.

Several towns in Bergen and Passaic counties defied rainfall predictions and won, treating locals to Memorial Day parades.
