GARFIELD, N.J. -- Maria Dos Anjos Tavares Ramos, 89, of Garfield, died Oct. 25.
She was born and raised in Fernao Joanes, Portugal; she emigrated to Lodi in 1968 settling in Garfield 47 years ago.
She was a seamstress with Malcolm Clothing in Passaic for 30 years, a member of the I.L.G.W.U. - Passaic Local, and a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church in Garfield.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joaquim Ramos; and son, Tony Ramos.
She is survived by her children, Joseph (Mary) Ramos, Dulce (Aderito) Travelho and Alcina (Keith) Farrington; siblings, Manuel (Anna) Tavares, Furtanato Tavares and Garcinda Vandaro; grandcildren, John, Paul, Sandra, Shannon, T.J., Nicole, Keith, Justin and ToniAnne; and great-grandchildren, Mia, Brandon, Aiden, Antonio and Natalia.
Visiting will be held from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield. The funeral is Friday, arriving at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Garfield. Entombment will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi.
