LODI, N.J. -- Edith "Sugar" Ann Bigica, of Lodi, died on Monday, Oct. 10. She was 83.
Born in Hackensack, Bigica received her bachelor's degree from Paterson State College. Before she retired, she was a teacher at Columbus School in Lodi for more than 20 years. She was also a member of the Lodi, New Jersey and National Education Associations.
Bigica is survived by her husband, Nunzio Bigica; children Stephen Bigica and his wife Therese, and Gary Bigica and Kim Caruso; siblings Edward and Monique Sproviero, Linda Sproviero, and Angelina "Honey" Sproviero; grandchildren Lauren, Justin, Bryan, Samantha and her husband William, Francesca, and Bryanna and Gary; and great-granddaughter Anabella Marie.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Ann Sproviero, and siblings Victoria and Albert Reiss, John and Angie Sproviero, and Andrea Sproviero and Frank Sproviero.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, at Costa Memorial Home, Boulevard and Central Avenue, in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Friday at 9 a.m., with a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy from St. Joseph's Church, in Lodi. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Mausoleum, in Saddle Brook.
