Remove Late Fees With Food Donation At Lodi Library

LODI, N.J. — Now's the time to have late fees forgiven at the Lodi Memorial Library, thanks to its Food for Fines program.

Food donations at the Lodi Memorial Library can lower late fees until Dec. 11.

The library will accept non-perishable food donations to take $1 off late fees until Dec. 11.

Library Director Siobhan Koch said they held a similar program in 2013 but not last year.

Koch will take the donations to local food pantries in December, but she has yet to pick which one.

So far 20 to 30 cans of food have been donated, she said.

"We do have a number of overdue fines so it's a nice way to help the community and have people get their fines lowered," she told Daily Voice. "It's a win-win for everybody."

Fines cannot be waived for lost or damaged items. A maximum of 10 donations can go toward late fees.
