LODI, N.J. — The Lodi Volunteer Fire Department always welcomes new members to join its four fire companies.
Adult members must be between the ages of 18 and 45 and live within 1 mile of the borough borders.
Applications can be picked up from the borough fire marshal on the second floor of borough hall. A physical by your own physician is required.
Applications should be brought to the company you wish to join during their monthly business meeting at 7 p.m.:
- Hose Company 1, first Monday of the month at fire headquarters
- Truck/Rescue Company, first Tuesday of the month at fire headquarters
- Hose Company 2, second Monday of the month at Kennedy Street Firehouse
- Fire Company, second Tuesday of the month at Westervelt Street Firehouse.
Once your application is submitted, it will be sent to the borough and you will be notified when and where to report for a drug test, fingerprinting and background check.
Once approved by the borough manager, the application will be sent to the state. Once approved, the candidate will be notified when to report for training at the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy in Mahwah.
Training includes 150 hours of classroom and hands-on training that must be completed within one year to be accepted into the department.
