GARFIELD, N.J. — Nearly $10,000 was raised in a single day through a GoFundMe account for a Garfield family of seven that lost just about all of its belongings in a weekend fire.

The Lanes were displaced after a three-alarm fire destroyed their Garfield apartment on Oct. 25.

The Lane family minivan — their only vehicle — was also destroyed in the blaze (SEE: Smoky Blaze Put Down In Garfield).

"Our family is giving our best efforts to salvage what was destroyed," said Jennifer Powell, the sister of one of the victms. "[H]owever, these circumstances exceed our abilities to fully recover what was lost."
