Nicknamed "El Bebe de la Salsa," Rivera has sold more than 10 million albums and has had 11 No. 1 singles, many of them in the United States, Latin America and Puerto Rico. He's become one of the biggest musical acts in the world, arts center officials said.

He takes the stage at 8 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, 30 N. Van Brunt St., Englewood. Tickets are available through the box office, (201) 227-1030 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.

An active recording artist since he was a teenager, Rivera earned his nickname after releasing his first album "Empezando A Vivir." That album produced several multi-national hits.

In 2013, Rivera joined La Voz Peru as a mentor and coach. His third album, "Cuenta Conmigo," won three Platinum Record awards in the United States, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Colombia. It became the most-sold salsa album in history, and earned him a Latin Grammy nomination.

Rivera is one of several performances planned this year at the 1,367-seat Bergen Performing Arts Center. Founded in 2003, the center is housed in an Art Deco-style theater that attracts many world-class acts, officials said.

The center also is home to The Performing Arts School, a nonprofit organization offering hands-on training in the performing arts to youth age 2 months to 21 years.
