GARFIELD, N.J. --Do you know the signs of mental illness?
Free mental health training is being offered Monday, Dec. 5 and Tuesday, Dec. 6 by the Garfield Stigma Free Committee at the Garfield YMCA.
Mental health first aid allows for early detection and intervention by teaching participants about the signs and symptoms of specific illnesses, like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders and addictions.
The training is eight hours and covers risk factors, warning signs, the impact of mental illness and treatments.
The goal of the training is for early detection and intervention by teaching participants about the signs and symptoms of specific illnesses.
The program is from 5-9 p.m. each night in the YMCA, multipurpose room, 70 Outwater Lane, Garfield.
Participants must attend both sessions in order to get certified.
