The latest forecast by the National Weather Service calls for the likelihood of snow overnight Christmas Eve, with a 50 percent chance of more snow during the early part of the day on Christmas. No possible accumulation amounts have yet been predicted.

After a mostly sunny day Thursday with a high around 40 degrees, Friday will be warmer with a chance of rain in the afternoon and a high in the mid-40s.

Temperatures will rise even more Saturday with a high in the mid-50s and rain likely.

But temps will drop overnight into Christmas Eve Day, which will be sunny with a high temperature around 44 degrees, with rain likely before midnight, but a changeover to snow overnight as the low falls to right around the freezing mark.

The daytime high Christmas Day should climb to the upper-30s under mostly cloudy skies.

The last time it snowed on Christmas in the tristate area was in 2009, when an average of 2 inches accumulated.
