Garfield, Lodi Football Players Honored By Conference

GARFIELD, N.J. -- A total of 18 Garfield and Lodi high school football players have been honored by the New Jersey Interscholastic Conference for their play in the 2015 season.

At Garfield, 12 players were named to the all-conference teams.

Senior guard Jeff Sanabria, senior wide receivers Steven Nolasco and Matt Wierzba, senior quarterback Alex Victorino and senior running back Aveon Irving were named to first team offense. Senior lineman Mihaljo Simakoski and senior linebacker Tyler Montayne were named to first team defense.

Junior center Christian Vargas, senior lineman Matt DeLorenzo, senior linebacker Jason Ruiz and senior secondary players Anthony Barksdale and Christian Bermudez made the second team. Sophomore Kevin Chromulak was an honorable mention.

The Boilermakers finished the year 6-3, and fell to Sparta in the first round of the state tournament.

At Lodi, senior punter Steven Villa and senior lineman Mauricio Prieto made the first team.

Junior tackle Guilherme Richil, sophomore tight end Carlos Pepin and senior quarterback Cole Villacis made the second team. Junior Alex Manjikian was an honorable mention.

The Rams finished the season 1-9.

Both teams played in the Colonial Division, won by Rutherford.
