The teachers have been working with an expired contract since June 2016, middle school teacher Marisa Ambrosio told Daily Voice as her fellow teachers marched around the Lodi Board of Education building.
Ambrosio, also the chair of the Lodi Education Association’s action team, said the Board of Education was meeting with negotiators and a monitor to try to reach a contract agreement.
“This is the first time we have had a showing like this,” she said of the crowd gathered outside.
Ambrosio said Lodi teachers have not received a raise since 2015, and the starting salary for a Lodi teacher is one of the lowest in the county.
