GARFIELD, N.J. — A Flapjack Fundraiser in honor of fallen U.S. Navy Seal Freddie Porter will be held at the new Garfield Applebee’s tomorrow, Sept. 19. Tickets cost $10.
Porter, a Garfield High School graduate, was killed in 2007 during a training mission involving a tugboat and eight barges in Norfolk, Va.
To keep his memory alive, his family created the created the Freddie N. Porter Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit organization that gives scholarships to deserving GHS graduates.
The annual fundraiser will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s, 186 Passaic St. in Garfield. CLICK HERE for more details.
