Corps. Barry Weiser and Detective Kenneth Hart found 25-year-old James E. McCullough "highly intoxicated" after responding to the Chestnut Drive home just after 2 a.m. Wednesday, Capt. Laurence Martin said.

After finding two spent BUCK 12/20 gauge shells in the backyard, they arrested McCullough on illegal weapons possession charges, as well as simple assault and discharging a weapon within township limits, he said.

They also seized several boxes of ammunition and a bar of brass knuckles, Martin said.

A judge ordered McCullough held in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
