Patrol officers responding to a 2 a.m. call of shots fired from the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection system in the area of North Main and East Main streets "located an apparent crime scene but no victims," Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

A short time later, a 22-year-old man reported being shot in the torso and a 24-year-old man said he was shot in the foot, Speziale said.

"Both victims were in the North Main Street area when the shots were fired and both were struck," he said.

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact city Detective Michael Quinones or Passaic County Prosecutor’s Detective Ricardo Ferreira of the Ceasefire Unit at (973) 321-1342.
