The intruder got into a “finger area” of Terminal C at 6:55 p.m. and was immediately detained at Gate 121 by U.S. Customs agents, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
He was turned over to authority police and the terminal finger was evacuated so that canines could conduct a sweep, he said.
“We have no idea what he was doing there,” Pentangelo said. “But all the normal protocols are being followed, just to be on teh safe side.”
The man was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark.
The terminal area was re-opened around 9 p.m.
