Lodi Retiree, 70, Was Downloading Child Porn, Authorities Charge

LODI, N.J. – A 70-year-old Lodi retiree had child pornography downloaded onto on his computer when detectives raided his apartment Friday and arrested him, authorities said.

A judge ordered Jose Vega held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a Sept. 21 arraignment in Central Municipal Court in Hackensack, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said shortly after the Wisse Street raid.

Vega was charged with child endangerment “for the possession of images and/or videos depicting child exploitation,” Grewal said.

The arrest followed an investigation by the prosecutor’s Cyber Crimes Unit, he said.
