LODI, N.J. -- Lodi police on Thursday released a surveillance image of a man who they said robbed a local bank of $2,350.

The "light-skinned male with a salt and pepper beard" entered the Capital One branch on Essex Street at 2:14 p.m. Wednesday and "approached the teller with his hands in his pocket indicating that he had a weapon," Lt. Robert Salerno said.

He "told the teller not to be stupid and to hand over the money," Salerno said.

The robber -- describe as about 6-foot-1 and in his 40s -- then fled on foot toward Route 17.

He was wearing blue jeans, a gray hoodie and a black jacket, Salerno said.

Anyone who knows him, sees him or has information that could help the investigation is asked to call the Lodi Detective Division at (973) 473-7600, ext 8130 .
