Lodi police detectives and officers teamed up to arrest Dylan Nieves after the overnight break-in Tuesday at the Charles Street deli on Passaic Avenue, Lt. Robert Salerno said.
Also taken in the burglary were cash and cigarettes, he said.
Around 11 a.m, a trio of officers headed to the 100 block of Main Street on a report that someone was selling loose lottery tickets on the street.
Seeing them, Nieves took off on a bicycle, Salerno said.
Officers Javier Hernandez and Miguel Perez quickly chased him down and subdued Nieves after a struggle.
Nieves was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer.
A judge ordered him detained in the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing.
