Prosecutor: Lodi Laborer, 19, Had Sex With Girl, 14, In East Rutherford

LODI, N.J. – A laborer from Lodi had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in East Rutherford, said authorities who arrested him.

Davon Nesmith, 19, was scheduled for a first appearance Wednesday in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

Records show a judge released him under New Jersey's 2017 Bail Reform & Speedy Trial Act after the appearance.

Nesmith is charged with sexual assault and child endangerment, the prosecutor said.

Authorities were contacted Sunday and took Nesmith into custody on Tuesday after an investigation by the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and East Rutherford police, Grewal said.
