Police Officer John Pierotti Jr. was on patrol around 1:40 this morning when he spotted the car headed south on Bergen Boulevard.

He activated his patrol cruiser’s lights, but Christian Guardiola didn’t finally pull over until he reached 88th Street and Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen, Detective Capt. Martin Kahn said.

As backups arrived, Pierotti said he smelled a strong odor of what smelled like pot. That’s when he found the stash, Kahn said.

Guardiola, 21, of 84th Street in North Bergen, is being held on $5,000 bail at the Bergen County jail on various drug counts and traffic offense. He has a May 11 Municipal Court date in Fairview.
