Driver, Passenger Flee Maywood Car Fire

MAYWOOD, N.J. — Traffic piled up in Maywood as firefighters hosed off a charred SUV that went up in flames on West Passaic Street just before 3 p.m. Friday.

The driver and one passenger — a woman and a teenage boy — weren't injured. The pair watched from the sidewalk as their car was loaded onto the bed of a tow truck.

They had been driving up the road when the car began smoking and then caught fire, first responders told Daily Voice.
