LODI, N.J. -- His New Jersey Department of Corrections colleagues became concerned after a 19-year veteran lost his job today and posted what they said they considered a troubling message.
The good news: He was found OK.
"Law enforcement on duty and off -- including Pennsylvania State Police -- searched frantically throughout NJ and PA for his silver Toyota Tundra," one colleague told Daily Voice.
Several of them requested help posting the officer's name and photo on area publications.
Once he was found, these were removed.
"We're glad he's all right," one of them said.
"We got the call at 2:30 that he was staying with his sister," a police official in Bergen County told Daily Voice.
"We were pinging his cellphone, trying to find him," the official said. "He was in Wallington, in Hasbrouck Heights and Hackensack, stopping at various places.
"Then we got a hit 1,000 feet from the cell tower on Essex Street and found him by Smashburger [in Lodi]."
