A neighbor called police after seeing the pair, wearing hooded sweatshirts, enter the Whitney At Allendale clubhouse around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Police Chief George Scherb told Daily Voice.

Sgt. Terrence Lawler and Officer Sean Hubbard responded and “saw signs of forced entry and movement inside,” Scherb said.

As police were establishing a perimeter, the 18-year-old man and girl emerged, he said.

The Ho-Ho-Kus adult was charged with burglary and criminal trespass, given a court date and released, the chief said.

The girl was released to a parent pending a juvenile complaint to be heard in the Family Division of Superior Court in Hackensack for similar offenses, he said.
