GARFIELLD, N.J. -- Sarah Scro, of Garfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 30. She was 100.
She was born April 19, 1916, in New York, to Salvatore and Rosa Benanti, moving to Garfield 98 years ago. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and a member of the Rosary Society.
She is survived by her son, retired Detective Richard Scro; daughter, Rosalyn Patire and her husband Alan; eight granddaughters, Sherry (Danny), Debbie (Ken), Donna (John), Karen (Joey), Kimberly (Evan), Sara Lynn (Jim), Kaitlyn (Michael) and Lauren; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Jacob, Paige, Kyle, Emma, Sarah, Claire, Vincent, Carlos, Faith, Olivia, Ella, John and Jack; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral is Friday, arriving at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 188 MacArthur Ave., Garfield followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorial gifts.
