LODI, N.J. – Salvatore “Sam” Bevacqua, of Cedar Grove, formerly of Lodi, died Sunday, June 12. He was 72.
Born in Tortorici, Sicily, he lived in Lodi before settling in Cedar Grove.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of the Maywood Tennis Club and a parishioner of Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Little Falls.
Before retiring, he was the director of taxes at Nabisco/Kraft in East Hanover. He had previously worked at General Instruments in New Jersey.
He was the husband of Lucille (Olsen); father of Lucia Dee Gagnon and her husband, Joseph, of Verona, Simone Bevacqua of Little Falls, Christina Bevacqua and her late husband, Robert, of Cedar Grove, and Kristopher Sal Bevacqua of Randolph; grandfather of Tyler, Sierra, Rio Marie, Caitlyn and Jacob Anthony; and brother of Anthony Bevacqua and his wife, Sylvana, Rosario Bevacqua and his wife, Michele, Josephine Tomasella and her husband, Charles, Carmela Mihalik and her late husband, Gregory, and MaryAnn Salem and her husband, Richard.
He was predeceased by his parents, Simone and Rose Bevacqua.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 N. Main St., Lodi.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 16, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, then go to St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church in Lodi for a 10 a.m. funeral mass. Private cremation will follow.
