Rosa Mastropaolo, 83, Of Garfield

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Rosa Malleo Mastropaolo, of Garfield, died on Dec. 27. She was 83.

Born and raised in Bolognetta, Sicily, Italy, she settled in the Bronx for three years and then lived in Garfield and Lodi. She worked for the Garment Industry in NY for three years and then for the Amalgamated Textile Workers Union in Garfield for 35 years, retiring in 1988. She was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, Garfield, and St. Joseph's Church, Lodi. She was also a member of the St. Anthony Society, the Sacred Heart Society, and the San Pio Prayer Group, all of Garfield. 

She is survived by her children, Francesca Bennett and husband Walter, and Giuseppe and wife Valerie; grandchildren, Michael, Danny, Peter, and Samantha, and dear sister of Pietro and Frank Malleo. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore; and her sister, Josephine Guttilla. 

Visiting will be on Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral is Friday, Dec. 30, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9 a.m. followed by an 10 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
