GARFIELD, N.J. -- Nancy Scalia, a resident of Garfield, died Friday, May 6. She was 93.
Born and raised in Lodi for 33 years, she settled in Garfield 60 years ago. She was a garment worker with the ILGWU Passaic Local. She was also a hairdresser for many years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Garfield and a member of the Garfield VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Nathan and wife Denise; three grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and wife Sharon, and Renee and husband Eric Buzzelli; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Evan, Bennett and Olivia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Scalia; her brothers, Joseph Granata, Charles Granata and Peter Granata; and her sisters, Marie Staine and Genevieve Luggiero.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to the American Cancer Society.
The Scalia family is in the care of the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield.
