Melvin De Block, 93, Former Lodi Resident

LODI, N.Y. -- Melvin De Block, a longtime North Haledon resident and formerly of Lodi, died Saturday, Feb. 6. He was 93.

De Block was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from Curtis Wright.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with family.

De Block is survived by his wife Josephine “Jo” (Dancz); children Kandy Vermeulen of Frederick, Md., Glenn and his wife Elizabeth of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and Mark of North Haledon; grandchildren Kristin Foye of Eliot, Maine, Kimberly Belisle of Frederick, Md. and Ryan De Block of Clifton; and great-grandchildren Emily and Eliza Foye, Jackson and Nathaniel Belisle and Julia and Anna De Block.

He was predeceased by brothers George and Kenneth; and his son-in-law, Bill Vermeulen.

Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lou Kilgore officiating. Interment will be at Lodi Cemetery.
