Joseph Skiba, 66, Longtime Garfield Resident

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Joseph Skiba, a longtime Garfield resident, died on Sunday, April 24. He was 66.

Born in Passaic, Skiba lived there before moving to Garfield nearly 40 years ago. He was a mail clerk for the United States Postal Service in Paterson for 41 years, before he retired in 2006.

He is survived by his sisters, Maryann Suita and her husband Joseph of Garfield, and Mary Josita Skiba of Lodi; nieces Patricia and her husband Scott, and Jo Ann and her husband Albert; great-nieces Allyson and Mariella; and great-nephew Nathan.

Skiba was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Udziela) Skiba.

Visiting hours will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Ave., in Wallington. The family requests no flowers. The funeral will follow, at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, with an 11 a.m. mass at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, in Garfield. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, in South Hackensack.
