Joseph M. Cangelosi, 79, Lodi Resident

LODI, N.J. – Joseph M. Cangelosi, of Lodi, died Tuesday, April 5. He was 79.

Born and raised in New York City, he lived in Garfield before settling in Lodi 50 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a parishioner of Most Holy Name Church in Garfield and a member of the Hasbrouck Heights Elks Lodge 1962. He was the supervisor of the Hackensack U.S. Post Office working for 30 years and retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Cangelosi, Patricia Sylvia and her husband, Kenneth, and Corene Rainey and her husband, Kenneth; grandchildren, Crystal, Dene, Joseph, Amanda, Nicholas and Jake; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Brandon and Robbie; companion, Mary Tarigo; and sister, Millie Conigliaro.

He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Patricia (Miller) Cangelosi, in 2009; his son, Joseph Michael Cangelosi in 1988; and his brothers, Anthony and Michael Cangelosi.

Visiting will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield. The funeral will take place Friday, arriving at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. chapel service. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook.
