Joseph A. Galtieri, 89, Formerly Of Garfield

GARFIELD, N.J. – Joseph A. Galtieri, formerly of Garfield, died Sunday, July 10. He was 89.

Born in Ossining, N.Y., he was raised in Garfield before settling in Monroe Township many years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was decorated with the Victory Medal.

After serving our country, he attended college and graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, a M.B.A. degree from New York University and a Bachelor of Law Degree form New York Law School. He passed the New Jersey Bar Exam in 1975.

He started his career as the sales manager of Beaucraft Accident-Proof Stair Tread Company Inc. in Garfield for 15 years, and then worked as a real estate lawyer for 21 years for both the Chicago Title Insurance Company in East Orange, and then the American Title Insurance Company in Princeton, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 522 of Monroe Township, a founding parishioner of The Nativity of Our Lord RC Church in Monroe Township, and a member of the N.J. Bar Association.

He is survived by his wife Susana; sister-in-law Esther and husband Elio Alba; and several nieces and nephews.
