Joseph A. Cala, 66, Of Lodi

LODI, N.J. -- Joseph A. Cala, 66, of Lodi, died Sept. 18. 

Before retiring, he was the owner of several restaurants, including Lodi Pizza, Joe Cala’s Second Half in Seaside Heights, Josef’s in Hawthorne, Tuscany City Grille in Faifield, Boardwalk Pizza in Fair Lawn, ViVi Restaurant in Hawthorne, and Josef’s Café in Garfield. 

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Sicilian Federation of NJ and an honorary member of the Lodi Fire Department. 

He is survived by his mother, Jeanette; children, Kristie Marino and husband Michael, Joseph A. Cala Jr. and wife Lesa, Lauren Cala and Nicholas Cala; grandchildren, Tristan Cala-Hernandez, Trinity Marino, Jalee Cala, Lucia Marino, Sophia Cala, Jace Cala and Milania Cala; and siblings, Vincenza Flores, Marie Gruber and Robert Cala.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph. 

Memorial visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Santangelo Funeral Home, 300 Main St., Lodi with a 2:30 p.m. chapel service.
