Irene Mildred Malec, 86, Garfield Resident

GARFIELD, N.J. -- Irene Mildred (Wywial) Malec, a Garfield resident, formerly of Wallington, died Tuesday, Jan. 26. She was 86.

Born in Passaic, Malec was a secretary for Hoffman-LaRoche in Nutley for 24 years. She retired in 1985.

She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Garfield, a member of the Holy Name Church Seniors and the Garfield AARP Chapter 2470. Malec was an avid bowler for the Roche bowling league and loved making ceramics.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Malec; a daughter, Deborah Thomas and her husband John of Wallington; and her grandchildren, Kimberly Mary and her husband Robert, Rachel, Matthew and David.

Malec was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Lynn Pyryt.

Visiting hours are scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the Kamienski Funeral Home, 106 Locust Ave., Wallington. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in South Hackensack.
