Gioacchino Amato, 75, Of Lodi

LODI, N.J. -- Gioacchino Amato, of Lodi, died on Jan. 8. He was 75.

Born in Termini Imerese, Sicily-Italy, he emigrated to the US in 1966 settling in Lodi 50 years ago. He worked for Milan Auto Painters in Clifton, and then in environmental services at Hackensack University Medical Center for 17 years before retiring. He was in the Italian Air Force, and he was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Lodi. 

He is survived by his wife, Rita (Sanfratello); children, Rosanna DiCarlo and husband Jack, and Philip Amato and wife Mary; grandchildren, Gabriella, Matthew, and Aidan; and a sister, Benedetta “Bina” Cosentino. 

He is predeceased by his siblings, Riccardo and Francesco Amato, and Antonia Scro; and his parents, Filippo and Rosalia Amato. 

Visiting will be on Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral is Thursday, Jan. 12, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. mass at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Lodi. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Saddle Brook. 

In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to the Adorno Fathers Mission, Ramsey.
