Born in Italy, Di Piazza lived there 24 years moving to Lodi for 12 years before settling in Garfield 48 years ago. She co-owned Leonard Novelty Bakery in Moonachie with her husband since 1962, and she had worked 20 years for Marcal Paper Mill in Elmwood Park retiring in 1984.
She was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church in Garfield.
Di Piazza is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack; children Leonard and his wife Vincenne, MaryAnn Zuccaro, and Carmelo and his wife Tina; grandchildren Adrienne, Amanda, Jack, Jessica and Christopher; siblings Anthony Sclafani and his wife Bernadette, Frank Sclafani and his wife Fran, Carmela DiPeri, Antonina LaBarbera, Rosalie LaDuca and her husband Angelo, and Josephine Taglierni and her husband Salvatore; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Fortunata Malleo, and her parents, Carmelo and Concetta Sclafani.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, at Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., in Garfield. The funeral is on Saturday, arriving at the huneral home at 8 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, in Garfield. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, in Saddle Brook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
