LODI, N.J. -- Doris A. Mercier, a resident of Lodi, died Thursday, March 31. She was 86.
She was born Oct.22, 1929. Born and raised in Paterson for 40 years, she settled in Lodi 46 year ago. She was a self-employed care giver, a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Hasbrouck Heights, was an avid bingo player and tricky tray supporter and she belonged to the Garfield Senior Center, where she attended every day.
She is survived by five children, Robert Van Hoek and wife Ester, Barbara Hook and husband Mike, Herman Hook, Deborah Mercier and Tracey Mercier-Colon and husband Anthony; grandchildren Joseph, Jennifer, Susan, Brittany, Kimberly, Anthony, Jessica, Brianna and Izabella; great-grandson Giovanni; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Richard Nyman; and sister, Ruth Gobasak.
Visiting hours will be from 7:30-9 p.m. Monday at the Aloia Funeral Home, 180 Harrison Ave., Garfield. Cremation will be private.
