The $21,839,914 proposed budget is an increase of $226,888 over the current budget. It would lead to a $34.43 tax increase on the average township home assessed at $328,547.
Mayor Robert White called the tax increase “minimal” and said the budget “meets the needs of the public.”
“We want to continue to do the right thing and not cut services, but at the same time be fiscally responsible and prudent,” he added.
According to White, the budget prioritizes the following:
- Hiring three DPW employees to replace those that retired
- Hiring one full-time police dispatcher, or two part-time dispatchers
- Hiring one or two police officers because of retirements
- Bonding to purchase a new ambulance
- Bonding to purchase a new fire truck
- Replacing HVAC equipment in some municipal buildings
The township has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed budget on May 4, at which time it may also be adopted, White said.
