More than 500 people who first gathered at the Women's March on Washington are now calling themselves "Glen Rock After the March."
At the group's first gathering, which quickly became a standing-room only event at a local restaurant, members described what motivated them to join GRATM. Some said that after witnessing so much hatefulness and rancor both on the national level and among their own neighbors, the group gave them strength and renewed their faith in their fellow citizens.
"I'm fired up," one member said. "We all have a sense of right and wrong, and the things we're talking about are not necessarily politics but common decency."
The group's most recent actions include calling elected officials in the state to urge the introduction of a bill to stop New Jersey from using state resources to carry out the work of federal immigration officials and calling the New Jersey state attorney general's office to demand that he oppose President Trump's travel ban.
They've also been filling out dozens of postcards addressed to elected officials, describing the issues that matter most to GRATM members, such as climate change, health care, women's rights, LGBTQI rights and more.
Many of the group's actions are performed in concert with larger state and national movements, including Indivisible, Action Together New Jersey, and the Women's March on Washington "10 Actions for the First 100 Days" initiative.
