GARFIELD, N.J. – Finance Officer Roy Riggitano told the mayor and the city council that Garfield passed the New Jersey Best Practices checklist, and will therefore not suffer any penalties in state funding, NorthJersey.com reported.
The checklist has 50 questions that address financial and administrative concerns. Questions include whether the city has a policy on surpluses, or whether volunteer firefighters put certain types of information on their W-2 forms. Riggitano told the council that the city answered “no” to 5 questions, with 10 being the maximum before the state imposes financial penalties, as reported in NorthJersey.com.
