GARFIELD, N.J.– Garfield PBA Local #46 held its first ever "Cops and Bobbers" fishing derby Saturday.

Residents and nearly two dozen officers gathered at Danhert's Lake County Park for the event, which was organized by Officers Jefferey Stewart and Robert Meehan.

"It was a great event that allowed us to spend time with our families and members of our community outside of work," Sgt. Mario Pozo told Daily Voice. "It was a great turnout and everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the kids."

It ran from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. and was open to children ages 3-15.

Bait was provided but participants were asked to bring their own fishing rods.

It was originally set for April 8 but rescheduled due to inclement weather.
