GARFIELD, N.J. – Mari’s Kitchen, a new Puerto Rican restaurant in Garfield, recently held its official grand opening.

Photo Credit: Maritza RiveraThe spot – located at 20 Plauderville Avenue – serves authentic Puerto Rican food such as fritters, roasted pork, chicken and empanadas.
“People are crazy for the empanadas,” said Maritza Rivera, the restaurant’s owner.
Rivera said she learned to cook by watching her grandmother while she was growing up in Puerto Rico.
